Faith Martin is an Australian Casting Director for Film and Television and a member of the Casting Guild of Australia. She has worked both locally and worldwide and collaborated with both U.S. and U.K. Casting Directors on numerous productions.

 

Faith started her career casting television commercials, then launched her own business, Martin Artists, representing Actors, Writers and Directors, a thriving business she ran for twelve years. She represented many well-known and celebrated actors such as Geoffrey Rush, Mel Gibson, Wendy Hughes, John Meillon, and Sam Neill along with writer Geoffrey Atherden, and theatre and film director, George Whaley.

             

Faith started casting film and television with a four-part series A Dangerous Life, for HBO in the Philippines and followed this with Which Way Home, for Turner Pictures. This was followed by casting the feature film The Crossing, directed by George Ogilvie, Strictly Ballroom, directed by Baz Luhrmann and The Sum of US, directed by Geoff Burton & Kevin Darling.

Faith cast the popular series Blue Heelers in Melbourne for the Seven Network as well as the successful series Water Rats for the Nine Network. This period also included casting Stingers, again with Nine and Murder Call. Faith cast the feature film Struck by Lightning, as well as the series Rain Shadow. She was the Casting Director on The Battlers, directed by George Ogilvie, starring Gary Sweet & Jacqueline McKenzie and cast the feature Dead Heart with Bryan Brown and Aaron Pederson.

Casting Wizard Behind Iconic Film and TV Productions

Her long list of credits includes Paperback Hero, followed by the SBS improv series Going Home and the twelve-part series, Two Twisted.  With Bryan Brown, Faith cast the feature Cactus, starring Travis McMahon and David Lyons, the children’s series Mortified produced by the Children Television Foundation and distributed by Disney, this production winning awards all around the World. Then came a period of six seasons casting out of Australia for the ABC/US Company/John Villacorta for their US pilot season and from that came a series that went into production in NZ, Legend of the Seeker. This series was also distributed by Disney This was followed by the series Spartacus, with Starz/US and produced by Rob Tapert. She did the casting for Ash v Evil Dead, both series and a feature film, then the telemovie Carlotta, the feature Better Watch Out, and feature films, Infini and Osirus Child, and Gabriel. Satellite Boy with writer/director Catriona McKenzie, The King Is Dead with Director/writer Rolf De Heer.

Continuing to Shape the World of Casting in Film and Television

In 2021 she cast the film Rising Wolf, followed by the children’s television series, Barrumbi Kids, filmed in the Northern Territory and the feature film Knot, for Picture Works Australia. In 2023 she cast a six-part series Grassroots, finding the two Australian leads for a series to be shot out of Hull, UK.

Faith has also collaborated with UK & US Casting Directors. A Cabin in the Woods, collaborating with Amy McIntyre Britt (Cast: Anna Hutchison). The Black Sails series, with Marc Hirschfeld, (Cast: Toby Schmitz as Rackham) Outlander, with Suzanne Smith (Cast David Berry as Lord John Grey) and Rectify, in collaboration with Libby Goldstein, (Cast Aden Young as Daniel Holden) Faith has the following projects in various stages of development. Stripey, Big Red, It Will Find You, Once More with Feeling. The Night Children, Storm Of Ages, Smooch & Rose.
